In early 2005 I decided to create a blog about my experience of learning the Beethoven Moonlight Sonata, a piece I had heard many times before, but had never performed or learned. I titled this blog "Blogging Moonlight." In it, I document, through 20 entries, the process of learning the complete Sonata from the first day of practice till the first performance. This performance took place at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, on April 24, 2005.
I hope that as you read it, you will discover some of the 'secrets' of how a musician learns and performs a piece of music from the ground up.
