I've written two books – Practice Makes Perfect: A Handbook for Musicians at Work and The Perfect Performance: A Handbook for Musicians on Stage. Both books are short, easily readable (I hope) and intended for all musicians, not just for pianists. In them, I attempt to summarize my insights, as well as paraphrase the insights of others, into the art of practicing and performing. These books are also based on my many years of teaching, and my observations of the common obstacles students of all level experience when they practice and perform. Both books are available in Xerox form from the Palomar College bookstore. Look for them in the textbook section under Music. Both retail for less than five dollars.
